Diversity in Islam
Islam recognizes and honors the differences among people—be it in ethnicity, language, culture, or background—as part of Allah’s divine plan. These differences are not barriers, but bridges to understanding, compassion, and community.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“O people, your Lord is One and your father is one. There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab, nor of a non-Arab over an Arab, nor of a white person over a black person, nor of a black person over a white person—except by righteousness.”
Quranic Verses on Diversity
As Muslims, we are called to celebrate our differences, reject racism and tribalism, and embrace our shared humanity. In doing so, we fulfill the Qur’anic call to recognize the dignity of every person.
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى صُوَرِكُمْ وَأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَأَعْمَالِكُمْ
Verily Allah does not look to your faces and your wealth but He looks to your heart and to your deeds.
